What we do
As a university spin-off, the continuous scientific examination of current issues and problems in agriculture is a central concern for us. The focus must be on the necessity of greening agriculture while at the same time safeguarding the yield and quality of harvests.
Modulation of microbiome dynamics in crop production systems
All parts of the plant, the root system and the surrounding soil are colonized by microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, viruses). The totality of these organisms forms the microbiome, which has a major influence on nutrient uptake, plant growth and maturity. The composition is complex and depends on many factors (variety, soil, part of the plant, climate, cultivation technique, fertilization, plant protection).
However, intensive cultivation systems lead to an increasing decline in microbial biodiversity.
The microbiology on our food is an essential part of the human or animal gut microbiome.
Our aim is to investigate the influence of microbial consortia on this microbial diversity and to identify biodiversity-promoting measures.
The intensive use of synthetic chemical pesticides has led to an enormous burden on the environment and humans. With increasing regulatory pressure (bans) and the ever more frequent occurrence of resistance to many of these substances, the pressure on farmers and food producers is becoming ever greater.
Our aim is to develop toxicologically harmless, food-safe plant protection products that are easy and safe to use and give farmers an additional tool for use in integrated and organic farming.

Upgrading of farm manure by means of targeted fermentation and determination of the reduction potential of storage-related emissions
Farm manure is an important pillar of regenerative agriculture. However, their storage and application is associated with the emission of various climate-relevant emissions. In our current research and development projects, we are looking at possible reduction potential through the targeted fermentation of farm manure.
Our aim is to achieve a stable and verifiable reduction in climate-relevant emissions in the area of storage and/or application of farm manure using microbial products.
We develop and test initial prototypes in our in-house microbiology laboratories and plant growth chambers. We have pilot plants (500L, 1000L) available for upscaling in order to quickly move towards industrial production scale.
We also work intensively with university and non-university research institutions on various projects to conduct in-depth scientific research into the effects of our products on soil, plants and animals.
How we implement it
Valibiotics products support the existing soil microbiology in the conversion of crop residues, the provision of essential nutrients and promotes the development of fine roots.
The microbial stabilization of the animal feed improves the quality and palatability of the feed ration and reduces the heat stress of the animals.
How it works
By using our toxicologically harmless microbial products, Farmers can significantly reduce the application rates of many chemical-synthetic active ingredients and fertilizers and thus the residues in soil, water and food.
Plants and microorganisms live in a partnership that can strengthen plant health and increase their tolerance to stress factors such as drought or pathogens.
Fermentation processes in the liquid manure have a positive effect on odor development, the formation of floating blankets and nutrient binding in the liquid manure.
